When we were at my uncle’s in January, he was telling me about a book he had read – Dr. Mary’s Monkey. He told me I should read it. I told him I would but I didn’t want to borrow his copy . . I would get it through the electronic library system. When I tried to get it neither the Brownwood or the Houston Public library had it so I requested both get it. Brownwood got it and I was able to download it last week.
I’m not even sure what I think about it. It’s political . . somewhat, but not partisan as we know partisan politics today. After reading the book, I can probably figure out the author’s political persuasion but I’m not sure so it isn’t bashing one part or the other.
I have no reason not to believe the info in the book, but I cannot say that I believe it all. I want more info. I want to know the whole story – the truth – about all of it and I don’t think we will ever know that.
I hesitated to even mention this book on the blog but I found it so interesting. I couldn’t stop listening. When we were driving home, I wanted so badly to put my headphones on and listen to it but that wouldn’t be fair to Vince . . he was driving and we were talking.
I think it’s a good book. I’m not sorry I read it but there are some things I will probably never stop thinking about and questioning in my mind.
Vince is going to listen to it and I hope we can listen to it together. I would like to hear it again . . and that’s pretty unusual for me. I can’t wait to hear what he thinks about it. He and I usually have totally different views about this kind of thing. My guess is he will be more inclined to believe less of the assertions/allegations and he won’t continue to think about it for years to come.
Again, I’m not saying “Read this book” but if you do, or if you have read it, I’d love to know what you think about it.

Sounds like an interesting book. Some things in it may seem unbelievable, but we all know how messed up politics is. I also doubt there will ever be a cure for cancer or diabetes or a host of other things because the medical & pharmaceutical industries will never give up their tremendous profits just to keep people from suffering. Any research I ever read about research into cancer treatment other than surgery, radiation & chemo almost always has been done in Europe. Very rarely in the U.S. I checked Overdrive & it’s not available there so I may wind up buying it.

I followed your link and read the top positive and negative comments. The fact that 90% of the ratings were 4 or 5 means it at least is interesting to most people, whatever their conclusions. I doubt that I’ll read it, though. I don’t have a proper background for really understanding all the implications, and I tend to believe what I read, so I try to stay away from non-fiction. LOL

Sounds very interesting! I am still curious about this time and some of the things that went on. There are too many variables to believe there was only one shooter.

It sounds very interesting. I put a hold on it at the library. Thanks for mentioning it to us!
