You knew this was going to happen! I ordered a doll to keep at my house.
This is Jessica by Gotz and it’s exactly the same size as Addie’s doll. I can make clothes from patterns specifically for the 18″ doll or I can adjust the fit on patterns not specifically for that size and be sure whatever I make will fit Addie’s doll before sending them to her.
Small price to pay for the fun I have making the clothes and for the joy I get seeing Addie’s reaction to the clothes I make for her dolls.

And you do know that she will want to take it home the next time she visits, right? LOL

That’s the doll that stays at Granny’s house! My Granny did the same thing – had a doll she kept at her house, the same size as the one I had at home so she could knit and sew clothes for mine and know it would fit. That doll HAD to stay at Granny’s but I could bring the new clothes home. And it made that doll extra special since I only got to play with it when visiting.

Actually I gave myself permission to have a doll of my very own a long time ago. 🙂 But of my three granddaughters, only the youngest ever played with dolls for any length of time, and recently I found out that she gave them all away now that she’s a teen. Broke my heart! They could have come to live at my house when she was done with them. So I’m glad I kept my own doll… and she gave away all of those clothes I made for her dolls! Tiny sweaters and dresses to match, and socks!! Oh my, it’s addicting!

So fun to have a granddaughter! After having two sons, it was so great to have two granddaughters! She’ll be past the doll stage before you know it so enjoy every minute!

I’ve been using pixiefaire for several years. I haven’t made a whole lot but have downloaded a lot of the free patterns.

Yes pixie faire is awesome .. What I did after ordering a doll for me to work with and fit the clothes .. I made little envelopes to fit the doll clothes and told my grands they could play with the doll at my house but could take home their very own envelope for their doll. It came with a very pretty strap and looked like an envelope (well an over sized one !!haha). Then at Christmas it was a very nice box that arrived with a lid for each with new crocheted and stitched doll clothes. They loved it !

That’s a little more complicated than what I’m willing to do. 🙂
Chad, Nicole and Addie don’t come to our house very often since it’s so much easier for me to go visit them. With Addie being the only grandchild, everything I make is for her. I may see about getting Vince to make her a little “wardrobe” type thing and some hangers or drawers for storing her doll clothes.
