I hate to even say it because I know I’m sounding like a broken record but I have never had so much trouble with choosing colors. Last year, I did a faded shawl.
And, I made a pair of faded socks!
For both of those, I just pulled yarns out of my scrap bag . . all leftover fingering weight. I guess, if I was smart, which obviously I am not . . I would have gone back to those projects, looked to see which yarns I used, and ordered more of those.
Every day I end up ordering another skein or two of yarn trying to come up with a good fade. I’m almost to the point of saying . . I know it isn’t going to be pretty but done is better than perfect!
I look at all the yarn I’ve pulled and ordered for this project and I could probably put together a dozen fade projects but I don’t seem to be able to pull this one off.
I think the pattern calls for four yarns but a couple of them, I need a bit more than one skein. Since I keep ordering yarn that doesn’t actually work, I’ve gone to ordering one skein so I may end up using six different yarns.
I just need to stop thinking about this, knit it and get it done. I think the yarns shown above may be my final choice except the far right one may end up being lighter than I want for the end. Here they are in grayscale.
I haven’t searched the stash for something that will work with that next to last color but hopefully I can find the perfect finale for this project.

Judy, I understand your predicament completely. I chose four yarns for Slow Curves by Joji Locatelli. Knit section 1, section 2, and section 3. Started on #4 with yarn #3 and it looked terrible! Off to the yarn store to choose something new, then had to add a new yarn #4 for the last section. I was so proud of shopping my stash. From now on, I’m going to make a small swatch with all four colors to see how they fade together. I think choosing yarns for these fade projects has been a great boon to the industry! 🙂 Good luck getting happy with your choices. I’m sure it will be beautiful.

Judy, think that sometimes we can ponder too much in making a decision (yarn, fabric for quilts, etc.) and have too many choices so we end up totally confused. Just take what you have here and go for it. Might surprise you how much you like it when it is finished. JMHO.

What would it be like to swap the last two? I love the colors!

I like that grouping, light last one or not. If you wind up hating it, you can give it to me. =)
