My friend, Denise, sent me a link to this new knitting pattern: Stegner
It’s a free pattern, as of now. Always check to be sure it’s still free!
I love the cables! I’m not sure I would make the long sleeve version and if I did, I think I’d make the sleeves the same color as the rest of the sweater. I love the sleeves, but yet I don’t.
While I also love Cascade 220, which is a worsted weight yarn and is suggested for this sweater, I think I’d be tempted to do some math and use DK weight yarn to make this. Yes! That is what I’m thinking – DK weight with 3/4 length sleeves just extending the cap part of the sleeve.
One more thing – the pattern is new. As of this post, there are only two projects listed. This is a new and updated version of an older pattern of hers, which only had a few projects and was not rated. The designer, Stephanie Earp, has enough patterns published that I am not hesitant to do any of her new patterns.
The question is: Do I finish up some of the things I have started or do I go stash diving and find yarn to start this right away?

That is a beautiful sweater, either short or with the added longer sleeves. It doesn’t look like the short sleeve version would take too much time, being raglan sleeves. I guess it depends on how many deadlines you have and whether you will look at your yarn stash and decide you have nothing that will work and then order more yarn. LOL

As of this morning it’s still a free pattern – and now in my library. I have so many short sleeve summer style patterns I want to start, but I seem to have the need to finish a few UFOs. Since January I’ve finished three and should complete the fourth this week. I’ve swatched for two summer tees and plan to start one as soon as I finish the current shawl. It’s been languishing for 2-3 years.
