Today is the first day I’ve gotten back on the scales since spending 16 days in Missouri. I was bad! I could have been worse but . . there were Girl Scout cookies in the house. Chad made root beer floats twice (and he makes the best!), there were burgers (once) at my favorite burger joint (White Grill), there was a stuffed baked potato from my favorite BBQ place (The Betty from Buzz’ BBQ), there were tacos from $1 taco night (twice). There was chicken patty/mashed potatoes at school with Addie three times and . . the worst . . donuts once. Add in a few Dr. Peppers and I was seriously afraid to get on the scales.
As bad as I feel right now, I’m kinda thankful for being sick because the last few days I was at Chad’s, and since I got home, I have hardly felt like eating anything. Yesterday, I picked at my food but never was able to eat much. Last night, I put a jar of canned peaches from last year’s crop in the fridge. They do have sugar added but I felt like I needed something cold and thick on my throat.
This morning I told myself . . today is the day to face the music so I got on the scale and I’ve gained .2 pounds. I can definitely live with that. I know it would have been more had I not been sick so I feel like I kinda dodged a bullet and I’ll do better next time I go there . . I hope!

Life is short. Drink the Dr. Pepper!
Judy Laquidara says
No way. The Dr. Peppers are one of the worst things I’ve been consuming. It’s a habit and it’s hard to break but I”m not going to give in and drink them. I can have one on occasion but never more than 1 per week. Those days are over . . I hope! 🙂

Curious – have you tested your blood?
Connie says
Hope you’re feeling better. Just keep in mind the memories you’ve made.
Tricia says
Seriously?! .2 pounds?! Is that even a real amount of weight to gain?! One good fart and you are back at your fighting weight! You are doing great!
Cilla says
I needed that laugh!!!! Thank you Tricia!
Deborah says
Lol, Tricia!! I’ve got to remember that one. I think that is great, Judy! Traveling is very hard on a diet. You should be very pleased. I am concerned you should be feeling a little better by now? Dont wait too long to get checked again.
Pat Anderson says
The beauty of dieting for a long time is that you really can’t eat as much as you did pre-diet. Sure wish losing weight were easier, but it is a challenge. You are doing great, Judy, and I think you were right to enjoy your time with Addie and the kids (sorry, but they are kids in my book). Memories made are always a win!
Nelle Coursey says
You did good!
Eileen Wheeldon Eisner says
That is fantastic!!! Proof that you can still enjoy life!! Hope you are feeling better!!
dezertsuz says
You are right, could have been a lot worse, but I don’t think it was too much worse, because being sick might keep you from eating, but it’s never been a great diet plan, as far as I can tell!
Rebecca in SoCal says
Desertsuz said almost exactly what I was thinking: being sick is a bad way to lose weight!
A “few” Dr. Peppers sounds like you managed to reduce that from what you were drinking before. Good for you!
