Some of the garlic needed to be harvested so this morning, we began digging garlic. Different varieties mature at different rates so we only dug two rows and there are nine rows left. Of the two we dug, we ended up with about 170 bulbs of garlic. If the rest of it produces at that rate, we should end up with about 900 bulbs . . that’s a lot of garlic!
We’ve already had days with temps reaching the upper 90’s so harvest time is here.
There are a few small bulbs but, for the most part, we have nice, big bulbs this year.
The remaining garlic is probably good til at least the end of next week before we harvest it. We’ll leave it out for a couple of days, brush it off to clean it up, then dry it on wire racks for about 3 weeks.
I’ll freeze dry some of it, but I will have to come up with ways to store it to keep it long enough to use it all.

I’ll take a dozen bulbs of the red garlic.
Seriously you should contact a restaurant or two in your town, they would be happy to pay for fresh organic garlic.

Is your garlic the single bulb variety or the head of garlic?
