The Need for a Driver’s License

I can’t remember the last time I truly needed my driver’s license . . til I didn’t have it. Of course, I always have it with me when I’m driving but in the past few days, I’ve needed it to buy sudafed and they wouldn’t take the paper copy (temporary since I cut up the real thing) and today I tried to register with AirBNB for a cabin we want to rent for an upcoming trip. Nope, they won’t let me register without providing a copy of my driver’s license or a passport, which I don’t have with me either. They won’t use another Texas government issued license I have, even though it has my driver’s license number and my photo on it.

My real driver’s license has arrived at home but I had already made and paid for the reservation but it couldn’t be confirmed without them being able to verify my identity, which they cannot do. I understand . . can’t be too careful these days but who would have thought I’d need my driver’s license twice in four days for something not driving related?

I gave up on the cabin, talked to Vince and we decided to stay in a hotel instead. It’s closer to where we want to be, has internet and TV and an exercise room and a pool. And, it’s about $40 per night cheaper.

It all probably worked out better anyway!

Sorry, but the first sentence cracked me up, remembering why you don’t have your license!
I was about to suggest that Vince make the reservation until I read about the probably-better hotel. Things do work out.

I’m glad you found a good place. Saving money is good, too. =)

It is on my list of things to do in the next week or so to get me a Texas ID. I refuse to give my SS# and DL to dr’s offices as that is a large chance of stolen identity.
