Vince sent me pictures of my irises blooming.
I’ve been so tempted to knock on the door at my old house and see if they would give me some of the irises I left there but . . I should have taken everything I wanted when I left so I haven’t.
Last year a very nice blog reader and a local friend gave me some irises so I have a few and it’s nice that they are blooming and nice that Vince sent me a picture.

Irises are my favorite flower! I have a couple of big beds of them. Our peak for blooming is early May, so I have a couple of weeks to go…I love the color combination of the one in the photo…I have some very similar. The school colors where I got my Master’s degree were maroon and gold, and that iris reminds me of that every spring.

I enjoy irises, and there’s such a variety in colors. Oregon has an iris/flower farm in Salem called Schreiner’s (Google?). I still have one of their catalogs from my visit in 2016. SO beautiful. My green thumb is more brown when it comes to them, as my iris bed hasn’t grown much over 20 years – whether tended to or not – and if I’m lucky, I’ll get a few blooms each year. I’ve noticed currently there are two stalks with buds.

You should definitely knock. I’ve had perfect strangers ask me! They multiply, so it’s easy to share.

I have more! I can also get you some of the light purple ones. I think I gave you the dark purple ones. Either way, I can share the other with you.

I hope some are blooming still when you get home. That is really pretty.

My Grandmother had a patch of irises about an 1/2 acre of them of all colors, shapes, sizes. They were so beautiful and she loved to share them. There was roses just before one went into the iris area. Then at the back she had lilac bushes. I remember helping her “weed them out” meaning to divide them out and give them away. So many pretty ones….
