Yesterday I came across this little gadget on the internet.
It looks extremely useful! I ordered one from Wool & Company (it’s their image shown above). It’s $17.50 with free shipping and after I ordered mine, there were 8 left.
This little tool is supposed to grip your swatch (you can see the little teeth) and then you count your stitches across the horizontal open 4″ and you count your rows across the vertical open 4″.
If this thing half as good as I think it will, I am going to be one happy swatcher! I have a couple other swatching aids but have never been really happy with either of them. This one looks like it should work quite well.
If you’re a knitter and always wondering if you’re counting your stitches correctly, you may want to check into one of these.

I purchased this swatch gauge last year and love it. You can’t cheat. It is soooooooooooo accurate. I think you will like it.

I went to order this even though it was a bit pricy for me. I don’t knit much (yet) but remember struggling with gauge. But shipping wasn’t free. It was $6.00. So no new gauge for me

I just called Wool & Company and shipping is still free.

Yup, Who knows what I did the first time. Ordered!

Looks SO much easier than trying to figure it out with my flimsy little ruler! My frustration with gauge is the main reason I tend to stick to projects where it just doesn’t matter. I can easily adjust my stitch gauge, but I find trying to adjust row guage really difficult for me as a new knitter. I’d love to try making a sweater, but I can see it ending in disaster since my row guage is always off. Perhaps you might be interested in discussing your technique in a future video podcast?

Shows how dumb I am about knitting. I thought you actually counted them as you did them, like chain stitch foundations in crochet!
