Another thing I’ve been missing are hamburgers. The local health food store has hamburger buns that are “dirty keto approved”. In the beginning, I read about dirty vs. clean keto and I don’t even remember the differences but I’m also not concerned about it so long as we’re losing weight.
Today I really wanted to go by the health food store and get those buns. Vince, always eager to help, said “Why don’t you just make keto hamburger buns?” My first thought was . . I have knitting to do. Why don’t YOU make keto hamburger buns! I didn’t say it .. I just thought it. He didn’t want to go buy the buns. I didn’t want to make the buns so . .
We had hamburgers without buns! Meat, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, dill pickle relish, grilled onions. Pretty good! Satisfied my desire for a burger. Vince said he liked it better without the bun. In my mind, something just isn’t right about eating a hamburger without a bun but I did it and I’m happy.

I often use lettuce as my “bread” for a sandwich.

I feel like hamburger buns dilute the good flavor of a hamburger so I usually order mine without. I have to be gluten free, though, so buns that I can eat aren’t common and the ones that are out there usually aren’t very good.

Looks great to me! I have a friend that orders a bunless burger when she goes out because she can’t eat the bread.

Works for me! I’ve been eating a lot of things without the buns or bread or sandwich part for quite a while. Not enough, of course. =)

If you make the patty more oblong, like a long meatball or pickle, it works great to make a lettuce wrap “burger”. It’s more difficult with a traditional shape, but you can always cut it to fit better. We like lettuce wrap burgers.
