When I make yogurt, I put the fresh yogurt in the strainer for a few days. The whey drains out and I sometimes use it for cooking or fermenting veggies, or I will pour it around the acid loving trees that struggle so badly in our alkaline soils/alkaline water, or if the chickens have been behaving nicely, they get the whey.
They already think every time I go out there, I have a treat for them, and most days I do. They love the whey and it’s good for them.
I even fixed a little treat for myself . . lightly sweetened homemade yogurt and a half a dozen blueberries.
