We had some guys arriving this morning between 8 and 8:30 to do some work here. I asked Vince last night if he should set his alarm. I was hoping he would wake up and quietly remove himself from bed and I would keep sleeping.
Vince: We no longer have an alarm clock.
Me: Can’t you set your phone alarm?
Vince: Nope, not taking the phone in the bedroom.
Me: What happened to the clock you used to use when you worked?
Vince: Unplugged it when I retired and don’t even know where it is.
I think that’s a testament to how much life has changed around here since Vince retired . . changed in a good way!
Speaking of alarm clocks . . either the bird that sounds like an alarm clock has moved on or we’ve gotten immune to him and are sleeping through his noise making.
I woke up about 6 and when I got up, Vince decided to get up to so he was awake and dressed in time to meet the guys. Now they are all out playing in the woods! 🙂

My husband took his watch off when he retired 12 years ago and has never put it back on. His job was specific down to the minute (commercial pilot) and he was DONE!

I love it! One of the nicest things in my life now is not having to set an alarm every day. Like Carol’s husband, I don’t wear a watch often – we’re surrounded by time devices anyway, but I rarely need to know the EXACT time.

I hate it on days I have to set the alarm! I keep thinking, just 20 more minutes!!

You’re making me wish we were 65! LOL. But we rarely set alarms unless I have to fix breakfast for a crew at 4 a.m. We’re just naturally early birds around here though and I’m sure we’ll still be ranching because ranchers don’t retire. 🙂 Still, it’l be nice to scale things back and take a little more time to ‘play in the woods’. 🙂 10 years and counting!
