A Late Night

It seems that I have never been much of a sleeper. My parents tell the story about how little I slept even as a baby. I wore out my parents, my grandparents and my uncle because I just didn’t sleep much. I still don’t. When I go to bed, I fall asleep almost immediately and sleep 5 or 6 hours and then I’m awake and ready to get going.

Last night, we had some pretty rough storms predicted to come through. Since Rita totally panics during a storm, I figured I’d just stay up with her but by about 2 a.m., I was getting sleep. Vince had long been asleep so I figured since it was so late, I wouldn’t wake him so I went to bed in another bedroom. I lay in bed watching Accuweather and Texas Storm Chasers on my tablet and must have fallen asleep about 2:30. At 3 a.m., I was awakened by hail hitting the window and then Vince came in and said “Are you awake?” Yep . . who could sleep through this?

Vince stayed up til the worst of the storm passed. I was still in bed but not asleep. It was a bit hard to sleep through it. I knew there had been a lot of damage just north of us so I will admit . . I was a bit scared. It was about 3:45 when things calmed down and Vince was going to go to bed but he decided to give Rita to me, and he would go back to our bed. Rita was still in a panic. I know she can hear the thunder in the distance after we can no longer hear it. After a while, I got up, put her in her bed in the living room and I went back to bed but it was around 5 a.m. before I fell asleep again. Then, Vince was up at 6:30 so I figured I’d go to bed early tonight.

Here I am . . 10:45 p.m., trying to finish knitting a blanket. Vince is still up so I will stay up and knit til he goes to bed. I wish we were both night owls . . gut he isn’t.
