As part of Malabrigo March, I had planned to make a sweater using Rios in the Ravelry Red color. No, that isn’t exactly right. I had planned to use Aquamarine but decided it was too variegated for the sweater I had planned to make, Vanguard. I was talking on Ravelry about some of the Rios colors I might could use and I mentioned Ravelry Red. Someone shared a picture of a very cabley sweater she had made using Ravelry Red. I have 12 skeins of it so I began searching.
When I first began putting my yarn in tubs, I put it in tubs labeled “Worsted – 1” and “Worsted – 2”. Sport weight went into “Sport – 1” and “Sport – 2” and so on. I thought I was so organized but at some point, some of the contents didn’t make it onto the spreadsheet. I also had some tubs labeled “Project -1” and “Project – 2”, etc. so yarn for specific projects went into those tubs and I can’t even find that spreadsheet. I thought it was all in Google but maybe not.
If I had it to do over again, I’d make a tub for “Malabrigo Rios” and a tub for “Madelinetosh Vintage”. I dream of having a basement with shelves where I can put the tubs and not have them stacked four high so that every time I need a yarn in a bottom tub, I have to move three tubs, or worse, when I don’t know where the yarn is and I’m searching. I also dream of dumping every skein of yarn and starting completely over with my organization.
But . . I cannot find Ravelry Red. Twelve skeins is a pretty good chunk of yarn and you’d think it would be pretty easy to see. This morning I went stash diving again and found a bag that had red yarn. I was so sure it was Ravelry Red but it was not. It is Rios alright but it’s Cereza, which is a bit deeper red. I went ahead and wound some of it because I had my heart set on a red sweater.
The more I looked at the Vanguard pattern, the more I decided I may not want to make that right now. That is a heck of a lot of cables and paying attention. I looked through my library and decided to make Persistence is Key. I think I’m going to name mine “Patience is the Key” because I’m finding I need a lot more patience than I thought I have had to deal with a situation. I’ve had the pattern since March, 2014 so I think it’s time I use it!

No matter what you call it, that’s a gorgeous red!

I’ve moved to smaller (16-17qt) clear plastic storage for lots of stuff such as papers, fabric, decorations. I can stash the smaller boxes on a top shelf. They are easier to move around. As we age, we need to watch our backs and other joints. The old larger containers are in the garage to store larger items.
Perhaps you can get some of the smaller boxes and gradually move the stash.

I like this pattern and I think it will be beautiful in red!

I feel your pain. I’d love to haul out all my yarn and start re-organizing it again. It started out organized but somehow it never gets put back where it started. I’ve been looking at the storage system Denise got – I just don’t have a place to put it. I use Ravelry to keep track of yarn but Ravelry can’t keep track of where I put it!

Cereza is one of my favorite reds. So rich looking.

You need those box shelves, like yarn stores have, only with see-thru doors on the front to keep the dust out. I do like that red, though.
