The Vairisle Hat caught my attention when it was first released a week or so ago. It uses a solidish and a multi colored yarn to make it look like fair isle. I didn’t get the pattern then but yesterday, ESK mentioned it on Facebook and then I took a second look. It uses DK weight and all those leftover skeins I don’t use for my Nightshift . . DK weight yarn . . single skeins!
I showed the pattern to Vince and asked him if he liked it. I was thinking it looks like it would cover his ears nicely. It’s 50% merino/50% alpaca so it should be warm. I was thinking about him out the last couple of nights, and again tonight trying to get the trees coated in ice . . a warm hat is essential. He has plenty but these are kinda different. I wasn’t sure if he would like it because it’s not a beanie type hat like he often wears but he said yes, he liked it a lot so the yarn that doesn’t get used for Nightshift will surely find a use to make a hat or two.

It will be a nice warm hat. I was looking at the cowl pattern by the same name/designer.
