Yes, that’s what I feel like I did last night – the night shift. I know better than to sleep for 3.5 hours, waking up at 6:00 p.m. but that didn’t stop me from doing it. It was before 10 when Vince said he was tired and going to bed. Oh, no! Why couldn’t that be a night he wanted to stay up late?
It was after 2:30 a.m. when I went to bed. The thermostat is set on 63 at night and with it being so cold outside, our two extra bedrooms are on the end of the house where the heat and air kinda disappears before it reaches them. I got in bed, tossed and turned and was afraid I was going to bother Vince, got up, started knitting the Perky Little Hat. Finished knitting the Perky Little Hat. I was still way too perky to go to bed. I thought about getting in bed in one of the extra rooms but I knew they were just too cold so I told myself I’d just get back in bed and count sheep. It was about 4 when I went to bed and then Vince was all rested and ready to get up at 6:30.
One thing for sure . . no more late naps for me. Surprisingly, I’m not too tired today
So .. the real “Nightshift” is Andrea Mowry’s pattern. It’s times like this when I wish I lived near a good yarn shop but my credit card is probably very thankful there isn’t one near here. Initially, I ordered 6 skeins of Malabrigo Dos Tierras to make this.
Some of them just wouldn’t work. The blue/green and blue go together nicely. The pink (though it looks red) goes perfectly with the third ball from the left, and the gold goes with the far left skein but the three “sets” do not go together at all.
So, I ordered more yarn.
Once I started knitting on it, I realized I don’t need a lot of blendy colors but I need a variety of very different colors but they need to be similar in tones — warms or cools but not muted mixed with very bright. I guess I’ll know it when I see it but so far, I’m not seeing it.
So, what do you think I did? I ordered more yarn this morning.
I’m not one to order kits because I love choosing the colors, even when I fail . . that just means I have more yarn for the stash. I did cast on and get a little done on Nightshift.
It’s going to be so pretty and it feels so good using the Dos Tierras. But, you see how colors that are too blendy are going to be really blah, right? And, you agree that I needed to order more yarn, right?
Not sure how much I’ll knit on this one or if I should wait for the new yarn to arrive before getting myself boxed in with the colors that are already here. It isn’t like there aren’t plenty of other projects waiting to be knitted.

I like your colors, but in the end it’s you that needs to like them. It IS always fun to know a package will arrive soon!! (Unless, of course, it’s coming by USPS) ?

I love your colors as they are, but, that’s just me. The purple/burgundy just makes it pop.
