This morning I decided to finish the rest of the fiber from what I had started yesterday. I skeined up what I did last night and it was 143 yards. What I did today was 55 yards so that was close to 200 yards of probably unuseable yarn but I’m learning.
I soaked what I did this morning and it’s hanging to dry.
I kept wanting to wait to spin the Malabrigo Nube . . til I’m better, but I decided to go ahead and start it.
There’s still a long way to go but each bobbin gets better.
I go sit down to knit, taking a break from spinning and trying to get some knitting done but after sitting 5 minutes, I want to go back to spinning. That’s a good sign . . at least today I’m loving it.

That is not ‘unuseable’ yarn. some art quilter will love it.

I guess I should have said “unuseable” as knitting yarn. There are spots that are totally not spun and fall apart and parts that are so overspun, they’d totally kink up when knitted.

Since I am not a spinner or a knitter, can the wool be respun with other “rejects” to create something new that could be usable for knitting? Spun, respun, knitted, and then felted into something???? Could be interesting!
Judy Laquidara says
I’m sure there are folks who would do something with it but I have no interest in that. I’d rather save it as my first skein of yarn so I can remind myself how bad it was and hopefully, some day, how far I’ve come.

when you hang it to dry it is a good idea to hang another hanger at the bottom to pull it a bit straighter. Then it will set straighter. I just use another plastic hanger, unless I need a wooden hanger.
Judy Laquidara says
Thanks! I thought about that but didn’t want to stretch the yarn. I’ll do that next time.

This is so pretty!!

Ply your yarn with itself or another like yarn. Much better for knitting then. Makes great knitted hats. My father and brother wore my hand spun and knit hats all winter as they were mechanics and it was cold where they worked.
