Yesterday evening I grabbed a Hiya Hiya cable and needle tips to cast on a small blanket. It wasn’t long into the casting on when I realized the cable was breaking and only hanging by a thread.
I was able to finish casting on, then switched out the Hiya Hiya for Addi Clicks, thankfully before the cable broke completely. All of my other Hiya Hiya cables are in other projects so I ordered 5 more cables in varying lengths. Vince said “What are you going to do with that one?” Toss it! We can send them back for a replacement but it really isn’t worth it and I have been using them. Nothing lasts forever and I hate for a company to have to replace something like that.
Vince said “Give them to me. I might can fix it.” NO! He will spend days messing with something that’s totally worthless. When I said “NO!”, he said “But I like to fix things.” I gave it to him and this morning, he presented me with this: Fixed cable!
I was so happy to have my cable back . . even though I have a few more coming. I told him “I’ve tossed probably half a dozen cables through the years.” From now on, Vince can fix my broken cables.
All brands are different so some may not be so easy to fix but you can bet he will try.

Good for him! Not only fixed something, but did it quickly!

What a lovely thing to have a great fix it man around. I miss mine a lot. But I never had knitting cables for him to fix! He used to regularly figure out things for my longarm, though. I went to an APQS road show the other day, thinking how much I would like to have a Lenni when I have a few more bills paid off … and then I thought of not having Paul here to set it up and keep it doing what it was supposed to do. It isn’t that I couldn’t do most of it. It’s that I don’t want to. Sigh.
