This morning we were planning to leave about 8 for a 10:00 vet appointment. We loaded the crate, the cooler, blankets for Rita, food and water for Rita. I was still in the house finishing up things to go and Vince came in and said “The car won’t start!” When I went out there, I noticed I had left my iPod plugged in and it charges directly off the battery. It’s been three weeks since I used my car so I guess between the car not having been started for three weeks, the super cold (for us) weather and the iPod .. it was all too much for the battery, which isn’t even three years old.
Vince grabbed the electric charge, plugged it all in and it took about 10 minutes before the car started. I was afraid every time we turned it off that it wouldn’t start . . but it did.
I have to take it to the Toyota dealer Monday to get the oil changed so we’ll leave it sitting til then and if it doesn’t start, we’ll know we need a new battery. Otherwise, after the oil change, we’ll run by where we bought the battery and get them to test it and see what they think.
The continuing crazy weather . . it was supposed to get up near 50 today so we had the greenhouse heater set to go off at 10 a.m. We were in Abilene and when I checked the weather at home, it was 28 at 9:30. Vince said “When Rita is done at the vet, we’ll just go home instead of shopping a bit” but the forecast said it was going to get warmer and by the time we got home, it was going to be in the upper 30’s so we didn’t rush home.
Going to Abilene, it started drizzling and it was all freezing on the windshield. I saw a lot of cars in parking lots with icicles on them. This is almost March . . in Texas!
We have a few cold nights coming up and then, I hope spring will be here.
