Every March, a big event for those of us who love Malabrigo yarn is “Malabrigo March”. The Ravelry group isn’t really sponsored by Malabrigo but it’s folks who love Malabrigo yarn so this isn’t a sanctioned event, though there are prizes and some may come from Malabrigo.
The emphasis is . . cast on! There’s no big push to finish anything, though there are some prizes for finishes. Since I already am a huge fan of Malabrigo, I signed up for almost every category. I’ll at least cast on but definitely won’t finish all these projects during March.
Here are the projects I hope to start and make some progress knitting:
Annis – I’ll use the skein of Malabrigo Merino Lace that I got for a prize from ESK. This will also earn me the “Tiny Needles” badge in the ESK Yarnathon.
Nightshift – The yarn for that is here too – Malabrigo Dos Tierras.
Vanguard – A sweater with lots of cables so it most certainly will not be finished in March. I’ll use Rios – probably Aquamarine but maybe Yerba.
Gap-tastic Cowl – This will be for Addie’s teacher for Christmas next year. It will be made using Malabrigo Chunky in the color Rich Chocolate. This will earn me the Cowl badge and the Winter Wear badge in the Yarnathon.
Perky Little Hat – I’ll use Rasta in Baya Electrica. I have enough yarn to make several of these and I’ll donate these to a local organization that provides hats to the homeless and that will earn me a badge.
Willow Cowl – I’ll use Malabrigo Mechita in Azul Profundo.
Since I can’t start knitting on any of these til Friday, March 1, today will be spent winding yarn. Tomorrow, I have to take Rita to the vet in Abilene so I need to get it all done today. Of course, there’s no real rush because I won’t be starting or finishing all these projects right off the bat.
I go into this knowing only a few things will get finished but it’s fun and the Ravelry group is fun so I look forward to doing it.
There’s still time to join the fun if you’re a knitter and want to play along.

You are such an enabler!!! Now I have to go to my local yarn shop (ok, it is just tubs of yarn in my garage) and see what Malabrigo I have.
