As always, I’ll say this: I’m not giving advice. I’m not giving health advice. I’m not giving diet advice. I’m just telling you what’s happening with us.
First, today, for the first time ever, Vince’s blood glucose level was lower than mine. It was his blood glucose level that initially scared him into going on this diet. Today, his was 82 and mine was 84. That’s the lowest reading he’s had. Mine stays in the high 70’s to mid-80’s before meals. Vince was very happy with that reading.
Second, about 20 years ago, I had surgery on my face for skin cancer. There were a lot of stitches that started on the side of my nose and came down to my top lip. Five or six years ago, I noticed a lump just a little to the outside of the scar. I never mentioned it to my doctor but my dental hygienist noticed it when I was there in October and seemed concerned. She said “Please let your doctor look at that!” so when I was there the next time, I showed it to him and he said he was guessing there were internal stitches and one of them may have not dissolved properly and as time has gone on, tissue has built up around it. He said he’d look at it in six months and see if there was any reason to change that opinion. This morning, I realized that lump is gone. It must have been just fat and the scar tissue kinda built a “dam” so that lump get getting fatter but . . no more.
Third, I’ve had a lump on the back of my leg that sometimes is about the size of a small egg. It’s very tender. If I bump it, it really hurts. In my wild imagination, I figured it was a blood clot and would eventually break away, go to my heart or brain and . . goodbye Judy! I showed it to the doctor when he looked at my face and he said something like . . it’s nothing to worry about but I’ll look at it again when I look at your face in six months.
Last night I was shaving my legs and it always hurt to go over that bump so I was going slow and I noticed, it’s now just a tiny bump . . about the size of peanut. I thought . . oh, heck . . this is the wrong leg but now I’m getting one on this leg. Nope . . that’s where the big one was and now it’s almost gone. It must have been some kind of fatty lump too. Almost gone!
Just seeing little changes like this encourages me to stick with this way of eating.

Wow, it is very possible that they were fat deposits. So happy for you that they are disappearing. Diet or not, it’s a good thing. It’s amazing what our bodies can do to give us little whispers that we should heed. Happy for you and Vince.

My husband has tons of those fatty lumps…they are called lypomas (not sure of the spelling) and are normally benigh. Years ago, he had three different ones (different parts of the body) biopsied and all was well. They secrete acid when bumped, if I remember correctly, and that hurts. We were told they are caused by getting bumped (and, of course, some people are prone to them). So, yes they are fatty cysts and you are right about that. How wonderful that they are disappearing. Like you, I’m not a doctor and not giving any advice! Glad to hear Vince’s blood sugar is below 100–great news!
