You all know how much I love my cast iron cookware. Many, many, many years ago, I had a small cast iron grill but can’t even remember how long ago it was that I last saw it.
Vince cooked steaks the other night and I’ll never complain if he’s cooking but I like my steak cooked close to the fire, seared on the outside but still juicy in the middle. Vince seems to let them slow cook on the grill.
The other day while looking for something else on the Lodge site, I saw the Hibachi grill but I thought $157 sounded steep so I meant to look at other places online and see if I could find it and totally forgot.
Last night someone mentioned on Facebook that Amazon had it for $86. I checked and Walmart has it for that price too, with free shipping. We have Amazon Prime and I went ahead and ordered it from there but then I saw that Walmart would get it here faster than Amazon will. Amazing. It was already ordered from Amazon so it gets here when it gets here.
I loved it for cooking two steaks and grilling veggies. It will use way less charcoal than our regular grill. You can use briquette or lump charcoal with it. I prefer lump and we have plenty of both so probably if I’m grilling, it will be lump . . if Vince is grilling, it will be briquette.
There are pros and cons to both. Lump is more pure but . . it’s just charcoal. Lump burns hotter but briquettes burn longer. Lump costs more so . . Vince will definitely use briquettes.
I’m pretty excited about having a little Lodge Hibachi grill again.

Jim and I have two of these little gems. We keep one at the house and one in the Airstream, it’s the perfect little grill for camping. Plus, it’s just darn cute!

I’ve seen them at the Lodge outlet here, but don’t recall what they cost. Not here here, but in Sevierville, near Gatlinburg. Where I always go to get stuff. =)
