I’m not the most organized person. In fact, I’m probably the least organized person I know. There are several reasons for my total lack of organization but the one I blame the most is that when someone is coming over, I put things “out of sight” and that might mean sticking a bag of yarn in the oven, or under the sofa or in the extra bath tub with the shower curtain pulled closed. It’s not just yarn . . it could be my extra glasses, or my only pair of tennis shoes. Every time I spend days searching for something, I swear I’m going to do better, but I’ve told myself that for at least 40 years.
The other day I picked up a bag of yarn and it contained the yarn for my Aki Cardigan. It’s Malabrigo Lace in Paris Nights and Shibui Silk Cloud in Suit (both kinda Navy blue). I spent almost two hours searching for that yarn. I specifically remember picking up the bag, looking in it and saying “There you are! I’m going to knit you up soon!” What happened after that . . no one knows. It’s probably hiding out with my cookie cutters.
I thought about using different yarn but then I said . . no! I’d always know the Malabrigo Lace and Shibui Silk Cloud were intended for that sweater so, I started something else.
Can’t work on one project at a time. I need variety! I looked at ADVENTurer Scarf. I already had the pattern. I have a Madelinetosh Advent set (or two) in my stash and there’s an ESK badge for using an Advent set so . . I started an ADVENTurer Scarf!
This is kinda the order I’m going to use them in. I moved the pink one on the left from #1 spot to down with the pink one towards the right. That solid white-ish one on the end just doesn’t really go. I may put it smack dab in the middle. The multi-colored full skein at the top is going on each end so I’ll actually be making 26 sections instead of 24.
Do you the white one would look better in the middle or between the 6th and 7th (from left) skeins since they’re lighter?
I haven’t gotten far enough into the pattern but another possibility is this:
- Do a section of multi-colored yarn on each end but before starting the bright colors, do half a section of the white?
I don’t think I have enough yarn to do a full section of white at each end next to the multi-colored and that would probably make it a bit too long.
Looking at my picture, I may move that multi-colored skein next to the white skein back to being between the purple and the pink. Obviously, I don’t know (1) what I’m doing with this project or (2) where the yarn is for my Aki cardigan!

I concur with doing half sets of the whitish next to the white/multicolored. And moving the pink/purple multicolored piece to between the purple and pink ones.

Not that I’m super organized, but I offer a suggestion. When putting something in a “safe place” to find later, use the Note app on your phone to note where you put it. I am really using the Note app and it is helping me, so maybe it could be of help to you too. I used to note things on a small tablet as to where I placed them. Only problem with that would be that I’d forget where I put the tablet. Good luck.

I have a suggestion. You may not like it, but why not flip the colors from the dark blue down to the white. It would be the aqua, white, variegated pink, mostly pink, purple colors, then the blue and then the variegated?? Would that work? Hey don’t pay any attention to me, you are better at this than I am! LOL

i use the guest bathroom tub to store stuff and it drives my husband crazy. I never understand why as we never have overnight company. I too make notes and then can never find my notes.

Can’t wait to see what you come up with! I followed the hashtag for this wrap on Instagram and it was lovely seeing everyone’s progress.

I only wish I had an unused shower! LOL I can’t tell you how many things I took out of my rental car, but now I can’t find them.
