We all have different tastes in books and I’m probably not one you’d ever want to ask for a book recommendation but . . sometimes when I come across a book I love, I want to at least let you know about it.
My idea of a good book is one that I have to argue with myself about because I always want to turn forward and read the last chapter.
Yesterday afternoon I started listening to the audio book, Home Front by Kristin Hannah. I can’t stop listening to it. I haven’t actually read the book but I love the audio version. I’m pretty much a crybaby but for about an hour, I sat in my chair and wiped away tears, then blew my nose, then I was sobbing. Vince looked over at me and then looked again and he said “Are you ok?” I mumbled something . . didn’t want to speak and miss any of the book. Then he looked over again and said “Are you sure you’re ok?” and I said “my book is kinda sad!”
It really isn’t that sad . . I’ve read sadder and it’s just one part . . so far. I’m about halfway through it.
Anyway . . this is probably the first book I’ve read all year that I want to tell my friends . . “You HAVE to read this book!” I sure hope the end isn’t sad!

i just finished reading it. Kristin Hannah is a good story teller. I have read 6 or 7 of her books and have never been disappointed.

I have one of her books on hold with the library. I am #37 on the list. When I went to find this book, all of her audiobooks have to be put on hold. So I did. 🙂

That was a GREAT book! I just finished two other Kristin Hannah books and they were both very good too–Night Road and Firefly Lane. Now I’m reading a non-fiction book–Boys On The Tracks–about two boys who were run over by a train in Bryant, AR–not too far from where I grew up–in 1987.

I work at a library two days a week and as Judy Domke says above, Kristin Hannah is a very popular author. Her books are constantly going “in and out” in the transit boxes for interlibrary loans. I’d never heard of her works before I started working there. Haven’t read any yet but your review makes me think I should pick one up when its not in use elsewhere!

I’m never disappointed with Kristin Hannah. I highly recommend Winter Garden if you haven’t read it yet.

I don’t think I have read any of her books, but right now I don’t need sad, so I am going to wait a while! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve been meaning to tell you about a book for a little while now – it’s not a Kristen Hannah book, though. I think it’s something you and Vince would appreciate, because of your downsizing and economizing efforts. It’s called Meet The Frugalwoods. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it very much!

I will have to look that up when I finish the current OD on space opera. =)
