It has been cold . . for Texas. It’s hovered just above freezing all day after being in the very low 20’s when we got up this morning. I had the greenhouse heat set to go off at 10 a.m. when it was going to be about 34 outside. By 3 p.m., the outside temps had started dropping and there was no sun so Vince went out to get eggs and turn the heater back on in the greenhouse. Almost as soon as he left, I heard sleet hitting the roof.
Tonight it’s supposed to be 30 with “a bit of ice” and the high tomorrow is 39 with some rain and then in the 50’s Sunday with another chance of rain. We’ll take the rain but Mother Nature can keep the ice.
Speaking of ice, Chad called and said “Well, I’ve had my second wreck!” I was going to say I didn’t consider that really a wreck but then I remembered his first accident and it was barely off the road too but the results were much different.
Today, he was able to get the truck towed out of the ditch and then drive it home. Last time . . it wasn’t ever to be driven again.
I will always be so very thankful that no one was hurt and and that huge, bone dry (in August) cornfield didn’t catch fire.
I’m glad today he slid into the ditch and not into oncoming traffic. He usually doesn’t drive the truck to work but today he was picking up lumber to make another table. He said the roads in the little town where he works were pretty icy and they had a truck out working on them before the tow truck even got there.
So . . the weather in Texas isn’t so bad. At least our streets aren’t dangerous . . not in our area anyway.

Glad Chad is ok!

Hopefully Chad’s okay.
The roads up here in MN have been icy this week–my brother’s work truck was rear-ended and my 18-year-old son totaled his car. Hoping things warm up down there!

Also in Mn and they say -14 tonight so the ice is not going any where. And more snow. ugh. it can stop anytime.

Good thing he was driving the truck!! So glad he is safe and no injuries. Doesn’t look like the truck was hurt too bad. Hope not anyway. I am just happy he is ok!

No, he said there was a small dent in the bumper. That truck is old and has had a rough life.

Glad it was nothing major znd that he and truck are okay. We took 130 to Georgetown this afternoon. We have had sleet on and off most of the day. 130 was backed up for seversl miles. Guess someone didn’t thimk it necessary to drive according to conditions. 80 mph on wet roads not good. They were way down in the median and didn’t look like once out they could drive the vehicle.

Glad Chad is ok and the truck is not really worse for the wear … Its been cold and very snowy in our mountains (in Colorado). In the 20’s and 30’s here where we live with light snow and ice. Ice storms I think are the worst. Our Granddaughter is in WA where the city is shut down and foot, atv or skis traffic are allowed she told us, at least they are safely at home. Their worst fear is wind /ice storms for the electricity to go out.
