Yesterday, while still feeling way over my head with this second test knit, I was reading Ravelry and saw that Eat, Sleep, Knit is hosting a Flash Knit Along (that means you have to knit something in a Flash) to celebrate Chinese New Year because this year, their theme is “Around the World”. And that, my friends, was one very long run on sentence. Please forgive me.
I’m betting there will be lots of flash knit alongs through the year with all the holidays celebrated by various countries.
This first one, for the Chinese/Lunar New Year involves making a pair of socks. There are two patterns we can choose from so I picked one that was free (and I already had it in my library). I’m so frugal! 🙂
Next I went to the yarn stash and found this yarn.
Obviously, it’s Madelinetosh but it’s Twist Light and the color is Cactus Flower and it does resemble the cactus flowers that bloom around here.
It’s wound into two cakes. I’ll be making two at a time socks. We cannot start knitting til February 4 so I’ll be busy working on my test knit til then .. hoping to get lots of progress made!

Gorgeous yarn! I’m assuming you are back on terra firma with the test knit.

That yarn is so pretty and your enthusiasm for a challenge makes me want to jump in. Going through WIPs recently I found 3 single socks. I need to learn 2-at-a-time.
