For probably four or five years, Chad and Nicole have been planning a dining room table that Chad is going to build. They’ve drawn it and measured and planned. They’ve talked about the wood they will use and the design they will use.
They had an old coffee table in the living room that Nicole had painted a few times and right before I got there for Christmas, she was going to throw it away but Chad said he knew someone who would take it so . . it was gone.
Then they decided to make a coffee table that would be a mock up of sorts for the dining room table. They measured and they looked at other coffee tables. Nicole knew that she wanted it a bit higher than most coffee tables. They came up with a plan and Chad picked up the wood to make it.
They posted these pictures online last night.
Isn’t it gorgeous? Being a mom, I said “Don’t let Addie color on it and don’t you leave glasses sitting on it!” Typical Chad . . he said “If it gets messed up, all I have to do is sand it down and refinish it!”
I’m so proud of him and love seeing him do things that he enjoys so much.

What a lovely coffee table. I had the handyman refinish an old kitchen table. He put a thick polyurethane (shiny) finish on it. And it looked ok, but in a couple of days it started developing big air bubbles under that top layer. I don’t know what I will do with it now. When researched, I read that commonly happens if you don’t know how to keep it from happening. It will be a big job to correct it. Maybe I’ll just … use a tablecloth to hide the bubbles. LOL

If the person who refinished it, didn’t sand it completely down to bare wood, and there was any wax or oil previously on the table, that will cause the new finish to bubble and peel.

As someone who owns an architectural woodwork company, I can honestly say that he did a fantastic job! The table looks great, you both have every reason to be proud!

Don’t sell yourself short tho. Look at your talents and Vince’s. All very talented. He was bound to inherit a gene or two from you both.

It is a beauty! If he quits Walmart, maybe he can be a carpenter. =) I like his attitude about the table, too. That’s going to be a lovely dining table design, also.

Very nice coffee table and I agree a little taller like it is …. Too bad you and Vince don’t live closer to them -then Vince and Chad could collabarate on furniture and sell it .. Just a thought coming out of my brain today !! hehehe
