I’ve mentioned on here before that Addie loves shiny, sparkly clothes. I’m more of a denim/cotton kinda girl. She’s always wanting me to make her something sparkly or when I take her clothes shopping, she wants things made with that awful brocade looking fabric. I told her “I don’t like shiny!” so now, every time she sees something shiny, in a mocking but cute voice, she says “Granny doesn’t like shiny!”
Yesterday Nicole called and she was all giggly. She said “Addie wants to video chat” so I got out the iPad and called them. They had been to Walmart and Addie found a sparkly skirt on sale for $5 and she couldn’t wait to get home, video chat and show it to me. Of course, I kept saying “Ewww! I don’t like shiny!” but it really was cute and she was so excited . . how can you not love it when it makes them so happy.
Nicole sent me this picture this morning. They bought the hair bow yesterday too. It’s shiny with even shinier gold unicorns on it so she has on the bow, a unicorn shirt, the shiny skirt, black leggings and black suede boots.
I’d say she may well be the best dressed girl in kindergarten today.

Lovely combination of colors in her clothes. What, she’s already shopping on the clearance racks? What a girl!

I love shiny and sparkly also. My DH says I must have been a crow in another life as I can be in full conversation, stop, point and say “Ohhh…sparkles!!!!! Even my nail tech knows and pulls out polish and overcoat in sparkles. She is a little fashionista!

That is a cute outfit. I have a friend who goes for the “shiny” too, although she refers to it as “glitzy”. LOL

She sure is cute. She sure looks like her momma in that picture. Sparkly is good—especially at her age.

I’m with you on the shiny, but isn’t it wonderful when your granddaughter wants to call you? I just love being a Grandma…it’s the best for sure. She is at a wonderful age. Our youngest grandson is 7 and so funny and smart…I think we, as adults, benefit so much from seeing the world through a child’s eyes!

Addie reminds me of Maggie, one of my granddaughters. When she was Addie’s age Bob & I told her we would take her shopping for her birthday so she could pick out what she wanted. We gave her the choice of Toys R Us or Kohls. She chose Kohls. She picked out a dresses, tried them on, then had to pick out the hair accessories that matched. Poor Bob (he hates to shop) and thought he was going to get a quick trip to ToysRUs. Instead we were at Kohl’s watching a 6 y/o fashion show. She’s 19 and still is very fashion conscious.

I’m drawn to shiny and sparkly too. But never had the figure for it and at 62 those days are long gone anyway. Besides, I don’t go anywhere to wear something like that. The local grocery store employees would have a field day.

I’m telling you, if that child walked into my classroom dressed like that, I’d be in love instantly. LOL Just the hair and bow would do it, the rest is all extra dressing. Is she tall for her age, or is it that she’s slender and the angle of the photograph?

She is precious!
