Another day of doing well on the diet . . unless you count the raging headache that woke me up about 5:30 this morning. I expected to have a headache since I haven’t had caffeine since noon on Sunday. I stayed in bed, trying to go back to sleep but finally got up about 6:30. I didn’t want to take aspirins before I ate breakfast but after about 15 minutes, I was feeling really bad so I told Vince I was going back to bed. He woke me up at almost 1 p.m. That’s not surprising because sometimes after a long trip and not sleeping well, I will take a long nap so after two back to back long trips, I think I’m caught up on my sleep now. But, when I woke up, I still had the headache. Vince told me I shouldn’t try getting off the Dr. Pepper cold turkey and I should wean myself off. Knowing how I am with DP, I don’t think that’s a good idea but I did drink half of one DP and took some aspirins and the headache is gone . . for now. I won’t be surprised if I get another one but when I started the keto diet during the summer, I was drinking a ton of water and didn’t have a headache so I’ve upped my water consumption this afternoon.
When I got up at 1 p.m. I wanted eggs and bacon so Vince had one egg and one slice of bacon. I fixed myself two eggs and two slices of bacon but could only eat one and I did scarf down the two slices of bacon but I could probably have eaten the whole pound!
For dinner, I mixed up some avocado and cucumber, with just a bit of the truffle balsamic, which has 9 carbs per tablespoon and I put about 1 tsp. on the mix and added a bit of olive oil. I fried up some andouille sausage with a bit of mustard and that was dinner. Vince ate salad too but I wasn’t that hungry so I left off the salad.
We’re continuing to monitor blood glucose, blood pressure and weight. My blood glucose is about 85 before meals. I need to get it lower but I’m not concerned with it being 85. My blood pressure is always in a good range. Tonight is was 111/73. The weight . . we’re not talking about that yet!

That looks like an appetizer to me. LOL It looks delicious, though.

Maybe you have the keto flu I read about.

Keto flu is very real and very avoidable. People need to do their research before starting this or any other diet. I was tired from two back to back trips and had a headache from no caffeine. I was up til after midnight knitting, back up at 6:30 and feeling great. No headache today but it will take a week or so before the caffeine withdrawals are out of my system.

I consider blood glucose of 85 more than good enough. Any lower than that & I don’t feel so good. If my blood pressure is anywhere in the neighborhood of 120/80 I’m happy. I consider this craze of ever lower recommended numbers to be a ploy of the pharmaceutical industry to get us to pay for more of their drugs. I don’t expect everyone to agree with me but that’s how I feel.

It’s no wonder you had a headache! No caffeine was enough to do it, but you probably needed a good long sleep after all the traveling!! BTW, I am very proud of you kids for your diet!
