I told you I would share my successes and failures with my yarn buying and, as I’ve already mentioned, there were a couple of failures.
There were also some yarns that had been ordered before the end of the year and arrived while I was gone. Our mail was held last week and I just got it today but the yarn that came while I was in MO, I didn’t open it til today.
The first yarn is Lettlopi. The color is navy and I’m going to make Big Love. This yarn was ordered before the end of the year (several weeks before the end of the year) from across the pond and it did just arrive.
This yarn was also ordered before the end of the year. It’s Madelinetosh Work Sock and the color is Posy, which Addie chose for making an Alouette for her.
The following yarns were ordered after the first of the year.
Eat, Sleep, Knit came out with their new colors for the year and I ordered one of each in Dream in Color Smooshy. There are eight colors in that set but I also ordered a few more colors of Smooshy for something else I’m going to make . . which I’ll tell you about tomorrow.
Then there are the Madelinetosh Advent Calendars. I almost didn’t order those but they were on sale so I ordered the Traditional and the Modern. It’s 24 “unicorn tails” (mini skeins) and one full skein in each set.
Also, a few skeins of Madelinetosh Eyre Light arrived today. It was on Power Boost this month and I needed a few more colors to add to what I already had here.
That’s it . . considering most of this was ordered before the end of the year, I don’t think I’m doing too bad.

You are as bad as I am with fabric. But for the past 3 years I have used more than I bought so I have less in stock than I started with by almost 10 yds and used 232 yds this past year. I haven’t bought any yet (The year is young yet) but was given 15 yds). That goes on a separate list.

Judy, I don’t know much about the attributes of different yarns as I re-enter the pleasures of knitting. When I began decades ago, I only knew entry-level yarn. Some of us could learn a lot from your knowledge of and experience with different kinds of yarns. As you order or use yarns, would you consider sharing a bit about their characteristics and advantages/disadvantages? Thanks in advance!

I like the “Big Love” sweater pattern. That looks like something I would wear a lot. I need to work on the mumble, mumble, 4 sweaters I have started before I start another one, though…
