We drove up just as the Saints game was beginning. I forgot I had turned the heat off when we left and we were about 10 miles from home when I remembered and turned it on but it was still 56 in the house when we walked in so we’re both sitting here wearing our jackets.
I did go out and visit with the chickens, Boots and checked on the greenhouse. Everything was perfect . . as expected. My friend does an amazing job with the chickens, the cats and the greenhouse. I’m so lucky she’s willing to help me.
The Louisiana foods are history and we’re back on our diet. We stopped in Jasper, TX this morning at McDonald’s and had keto friendly sausage and eggs. That’s not a bad breakfast when traveling. The price of a side of scrambled eggs varies but we get the $1 sausage muffin and don’t eat the bread. I think it’s $6 for both of us to eat breakfast and Vince got two pieces of sausage and I can’t eat all my eggs so he gets some of those.
Then we stopped at Subway in Crockett, TX. I didn’t even know they had salads but they make HUGE salads. The lady made them, Vince looked at them and said “We should have shared one salad!” I hardly made a dent in mine. Vince ate about half of his.
That salad is as big as it looks! In mine, had spinach, lettuce, green onions, tomatoes, black olives and teriyaki chicken. I think those are about $7 each.
We made great time. Left Lake Charles at 7 this morning and got home about 3:30. Speaking of leaving at 7, Vince had told me yesterday we were going to leave between 7 and 8. In my opinion, that is NOT 7:00. Rita wanted to go out at 5:30 and since you have to go down stairs there to get to the ground level, I tried not to go out any more than I had to with the knee so Vince did all the Rita trips outside . . so he came back inside and it’s about 5:35 a.m. Vince said “Do you mind if I turn the light on?” The light is a ceiling fan with 4 floodlights (or so it seems at 5:35 in the morning). After a few minutes, I said “How long are you going to leave the light on?” I thought he just needed to find something. There are lamps on each side of the bed. He said “I thought you were going to get up!” It’s 5:35 a.m. No . . I am not getting up . . but I did so we got dressed, got the car loaded, spent a few more minutes with my uncle and we were on the road.
I’m going to watch football and knit but if I had to guess, I’d say we’ll be in bed early tonight! It’s been a long day already.

That sounds so familiar. Bob does the same thing. Last week we were at our daughter’s in KS – before we went to bed Bob told her we were going to leave about 9 AM. We’ve never left anywhere that late. Sure enough, 6:30 AM he’s up moving around. The car was loaded by 7:30 and we were on our way. When we’re at the front end of a trip he drives 5-10 miles below the speed limit (drives me nuts); at the back end, heading for home, he drives 10 miles over the speed limit and tells me not to drink too much so we don’t have to stop as often!

Judy, My son is on the KETO diet and knows it inside and out. He is also quite frugal (in a good way–generous with charity!). Anyway, we just had Subway for supper…he helped me since I failed majorly at KETO so am now doing low calorie and as few carbs as possible…he buys the wraps at Subway and doesn’t eat the wrap. I just had the roasted chicken and it was wonderful. Not sure if he asked for double meat or if they come that way, but I am full! If you buy a salad, it costs more…he asked for a bowl the first time he ordered and they told him they would have to charge more. So, he does the wrap and doesn’t eat the wrap. He has lost 36 lbs since Nov, which is pretty amazing since he is a truck driver (Wal Mart–hello Chad!) and is gone six days and home three. He works 14-hour days but only eats twice a day. He is a big fan of Keto Chow for protein drinks with whipping cream and water as the base, if you’d like to check into it. Quite expensive, but I tasted a caramel one he made and it was really good! He says he never gets hungry. Good luck on the diet! I have only lost 22 lbs since June 27th but I suffer from chronic pain so my body is in “Fight or Flight” all the time. I’m happy with any weight loss. Hey to Vince!

Pat does this to me as well!! He wakes up really early and I like to sleep in when we go somewhere! If I am on vacation (sort of) I think we need to not have a schedule and just do it! He wants everything to be on schedule. You would think with me being a Libra I would be that way more than him, nope! So glad you are home. We go to Abilene tomorrow for apt with heart Dr. But we will go out to eat while we are there!

Well, I was still up (in real time, not clock time), when you were getting up! (Had trouble sleeping last night). Well, the earlier you leave, the sooner you get home, so rest well and enjoy home sweet home!
