There’s a fairly new restaurant here . . I say “fairly new” meaning it probably isn’t more than 5 years old. My dad is friends with the guy who owns the place and we went out there a time or two when it was being built but I’d never been back since it was finished. It’s one of those places where people either rave about it or don’t like it. My uncle had been wanting to try it out so we went there for lunch.
It sits on the water and has a gorgeous view.
These moss covered trees just scream LOUISIANA to me and I love them.
The view . . terrific! The food . . I have no idea. We never got our food. We got there about 12:40. There were a few people finishing up their food. We sat down and ordered. And waited. And waited. Vince was getting a bit fed up so I said “Let’s go outside and take some pictures.” Our server came out and said “It’s going to be a few more minutes. We had a large order to go.” We said ok . . hung around outside, then went back in and waited and waited. After 45 minutes, Vince said . . enough. He asked the server to cancel our order and we left. The menu is pretty limited. We expected more of a restaurant type menu but it’s more of a bar and I think that’s where they shine. My uncle ordered a hotdog. I ordered a shrimp poboy and Vince ordered a hamburger. It wasn’t like we were trying to get a meal at 3:00 p.m. It was still close enough to lunch that it should not have been a problem.
Steamboat Bill’s is one of my favorite places to eat. Steamboat Bill’s was around when Chad was a baby and he nibbled on fried shrimp and fish there for some of his first “out to eat” meals. It’s still a place he always visits when he’s in Lake Charles.
Things always happen for a reason. We left the slow restaurant, went to Steamboat Bill’s, placed our order and had our food in less than 10 minutes. I had fried popcorn shrimp. Vince had a small seafood platter and my uncle had fried catfish. Vince and I did not eat our potatoes so . . it could have been worse.
They even had their own cajun spice for sale.
I used it on my food but it wasn’t something that caused my taste buds to sing . . nothing like Cajun Redhead does, so I didn’t get any.
We’re stuffed. We ate way more than we should. Probably totally blew our diets but . . we’re in Louisiana and I can’t leave here without having the best food on earth! I’m not sorry we had what we had but I sure wish I’d taken a nap when we got home.

You have lots more patience than I would have at the slow place! Do you see your folks when you visit or do they live in a different part of the state? Safe travels home!

There used to be a place in i-10 that was called PAwaws that had excellecent seafood. We use to stop there on way to Piciune Mississippi Is it still there?

I love Steamboat Bill’s! I haven’t eaten there in a long time, but it’s definitely a favorite! I’m glad you got to eat there again!
