You believe me, right? I do know how to knit socks. Last night I finished Addie’s Lucky Charm socks but I made more mistakes in this pair of socks than I think I’ve made in all 75 previously pairs of socks.
In fact, last night, while getting frustrated with the mistakes, I realized that the socks I was wearing were some of my oldest socks. These were finished in January, 2009 . . that’s 10 years ago!
The first mistake I made:
The heel was completely turned and I looked and there was a dropped stitch. Since I was doing two at a time, I ended up with a big mess trying to take the stitches out and finally ended up grabbing a second set of needles. The real problem is that this was all happening while were driving down the road 75 mph.
Then, somehow, getting them back on the one long circular set, I got them on with one facing front and one facing back so I figured I wasn’t going to worry about that. I just kept knitting.
At some point, I totally split up the front stitches and had half of them on the back needle. No idea how I did it because I couldn’t even figure out how to get them back on track . . had to use that second circular needle again. Got them all straightened out and put them back on one long set of needles.
Yes, I am happy to have these finished. I will take a picture of the completed socks after I get the ends woven in.

They are very nice! As is everything you make! You persevered and fixed the mistakes! Love them!

You definitely have a LOT of patience. I would’ve ripped em all off and been done with them. Dealing with tangled stuff is not my forte. If I had a badly tangled necklace, I’d try for about 5-10 min then give it to DH; he’d have it untangled in no time.

LOL! I am working on probably my 100th pair (which is all because of you and your blog), and I have done more weird mistakes than I can count. These are plain Jane vanilla socks from good old pattern 29. I can do these things in my sleep, or so I thought.

Getting one forward and one backward is indeed a trick! LOL I’ve been trying to do some sewing and have been making all kinds of silly mistakes. I pressed the pockets in a jacket the wrong direction (and sewed them down), so if I wanted to use them, I would have to cross my arms and put my left hand in the right pocket…I found a way around that one without having to take it all out, but I decided maybe that project should be in timeout for a little bit!

I try and try, but I can’t knit socks worth a darn! Sad! I do love reading about yours, Judy!

They are really pretty, she is going to love them. You would not believe the mistakes I have made and covered up! Hopefully no one but me will notice!! LOL
