We’re so proud of Rita and how she’s adapted to her life as a blind dog and for how well she’s adapted to the changes we throw at her. I’ve always had dachshunds and the ones I’ve had are headstrong, determined and not very cooperative. I had never had a desire for a chihuahua and, from what I had heard about them, their tendency is to be snippy little barkers.
While I still am not sold on chihuahuas, Rita is the best dog we’ve had.
She does not like to be held but since she can’t run around at my uncle’s due to being aggressive to his dogs, she’s ok sitting in her bed in the chair with me or on the sofa with Vince.
Last night she was sitting in the chair with me and it’s a small chair so she was kinda crammed in her bed and never could get comfortable. We kept laughing at her positions but then Vince sat down on the sofa so we were able to move Rita and her bed over to where she would have a bit more room.
Even with all the hooping and hollering, she slept through it all.

She takes beautiful photos. Very precious. 1 1/2 weeks ago I adopted a 13 lb blind Pie Bald Dachshund. It only took him a few days to acclimate himself to this house and go potty outside. He hears very well so making a tapping with my feet and speaking Go Pee he follows that, stops at the thresh hold to go out and finds his way down the ramp. Quick learner. Very sweet.

Rita is probably so good because she realizes how much better off she is than when she was on her own, scrounging for food and trying to stay away from other nasty animals that could make a meal of her!!
