No Tears

After my talk with Addie about neither of us crying when I left, I got away with no tears. Nicole said Addie was sitting on the sofa and she asked Nicole to come sit with her. Nicole said she had tears streaming down her face and Nicole said “What’s wrong?” and she said “Granny’s gone!” Nicole reminded her that I’ll be back soon and she was ok.

Last night I told her that she didn’t need to get up when I got up but I’d come back and wake her up before I was leaving.

I had my phone alarm set for 6:05 a.m. I woke up, looked at the phone and it was 6:04. Before I even got it in my hands to turn it off, it went off for a split second. Addie jumped up and said “Wakey! Wakey!” I gave her a kiss on the head and told her to go back to sleep . . I’d come back for her later and she went back to sleep.

I got dressed and about 6:30, went back to get her. Chad was leaving to go to work and I was leaving and I was afraid that was going to be too much for her to hold back the tears with us both leaving at the same time but she did good.

Speck is always so excited to see me and I think he knew I was leaving this morning. He was sticking close by me. I’m sure by the time I had been gone 45 minutes, he had already forgotten about me and was probably watching for a squirrel but it still tugged at my heartstrings a bit.
