The main reason I visit Chad, Nicole and Addie is to enjoy being with them, make memories, do what I can to help them for a couple of weeks. This trip, it was to spend Christmas with them and watch Addie while the day care was closed for the holidays. Of course, all of that was accomplished.
On the knitting front, I had planned to finish Addie’s unicorn sweater. That didn’t happen but it’s going to be way too big for her. Even with my gauge being spot on, this sweater is coming out big and it will be much better for next winter so I didn’t mind that it didn’t get finished.
I had planned to make her socks. That didn’t happen. I just haven’t had a lot of knitting time. Chad’s been home most evenings. I would always sit up late at night and knit but when he’s home, I go to bed early with Addie so Chad and Nicole can have some alone time.
I don’t think we’ll all be going anywhere together again so I took Addie’s booster seat out of my car.
Most of my stuff is packed back into the car and I’m ready to leave in the morning. I re-packed everything so I have two bags that I’ll just leave in the car when I get home, spend one night at home, and get up and leave again on Sunday morning. I don’t think I have to pack a single thing as far as personal items or clothing. Without all the Christmas presents and food I brought from home, my car looks pretty empty.
As far as knitting, I will take Addie’s sweater, the new Hitofude, Addie’s socks, and the new test knit . . if I find yarn. I’m only going to be there four days so I know I’m taking way too much knitting but it doesn’t take up much room and since it’s already packed, I don’t mind.
All I have to do when I get home, in order to get ready for the next trip is find yarn for that test knit and get it wound. Vince said he was grilling chicken breasts today and he’d grill extra so we can have a salad and chicken breasts for dinner tomorrow. Thank you, Vince! Most of the time when I get home, we go out to eat and after being in the car for 10 or 11 hours, the last thing I want to do is get back in the car after having been out for half an hour. At least I get to spend one night in my own bed before leaving for about an 8 hour trip.

I know it’s been a wonderful visit, a one of a kind Christmas. I hope there are many more to follow, and the things you wish for most come to be. Drive safely, and then make Vince drive safely. LOL
