Our trip to Joplin to eat sushi was almost scrapped because Addie told me counting to 100 was too hard and she wasn’t going to do it any more! We went to Walmart today and in the car is a great time for counting. Not much else to do but nope, she wasn’t doing it. We got in Walmart and she said “Granny, will you buy me something?” I said “Nope! I have to work hard for my money and if you think counting is hard, you should see how hard my job is! And, since counting is too hard for you to do, I don’t see how it’s fair for me to buy you anything.”
This is the look I got.
All dressed up with earrings, bracelet, necklace . . but still not getting anything.
Tonight she asked if anyone wanted to count to 100 with her so, of course, we all did.
Nicole was in the middle of taking the tree down but she stopped and got all excited about counting with Addie.
She did the best she’s done yet. She still gets hung up after 29.
She got to 100 with only stumbling at 29. That was enough to earn her a trip to get sushi.

Yay for Addie. But it would take a bigger bribe for me to do something than sushi. ?

She understands the pattern doesn’t she? That look was priceless!

Oh my, that look! Almost as cute as the beautiful smile.

Mathew made it to 100 easily (but he has an older sister who helped him learn before K). Now it’s the Soccer Ball sight words we struggle with. I think he has about 50 words he has to practice nightly and 10 min. of reading nightly to earn a hot chocolate party with the principal after break.

Good Granny holding your ground, not giving in but with that look it must me difficult to not give in but it was a very good learning tool. If more parents, grandparents, relatives and friends give in that is not teaching our children. You came up with a perfect response. You did well Granny! Not everything in life is free. Well played!

YEA!! I knew if she wanted it bad enough she would do it! She will get past the 29 thing after a while.

I love that pouty, mad face. I also love that it doesn’t make anyone give in to her. She’s learning that being stubborn doesn’t always help.
