At the end of the day . . Christmas 2018 is pretty much history. We’ve all shopped for months and months, planning those perfect gifts. We’ve sewn. We’ve knitted. We’ve planned meals and party foods. We’ve cooked. We’ve baked and decorated cookies. We’ve made candy.
Now the packages have been opened, the food consumed, most of the cookies and candies eaten.
Even with knitting . . the submissions for ESK’s Yarnathon had to be submitted by today so, for all practical purposes, that’s over.
We came home from Nicole’s grandparents’ and took a nap. I woke up and was thinking . . do I feel let down that all the planning and celebrating is over? No, I don’t. I’m already looking forward to next year. I’m planning the advent gifts for Addie. 24 little gifts that need to be in the mail by the middle of November, or, I could get my act together, get them purchased and wrapped and bring the box when I come in September or October and save on postage.
I was thinking about gifts I might want to knit for next year. I don’t enjoy rush job knitting so I’ll plan ahead and make gifts for Addie’s teachers . . maybe a cowl and fingerless mitts again for her teacher next year.
I can look backward and be sad that all the Christmas gifts, cooking, visiting is over or I can look forward and be optimistic about the next year. I choose to look forward!

I’ve been planning for next year already, too. Great fun!! Watching our almost-3-year-old grandson open gifts this morning was the most fun of all. I fixed the entire meal, but for some reason, Christmas never seems quite so hectic as Thanksgiving for preparing all the food. I love Christmas and continue to look forward as well. Merry Christmas!!!

It always seems that for all the work that goes into Christmas it’s over all too soon. However, next Christmas will be here before we know it!

Today it was just me and my dog, but my Christmas tree looks beautiful and I received some wonderful gifts. Both daughters are far away physically, but close by phone and text messages. I talked by phone to my sister who lives nearby, but didn’t see her because she spent the day with her husband who was admitted to the hospital Christmas Eve. Some Christmases are full of joy, family laughter, and fun. Others are more subdued. But every Christmas morning I count my blessings before I start the day!

Merry Christmas! The eating and gifting does seem to go quickly for all the time and effort put into it! We had so much food that we forgot about all the cookies! Judy, you need to know that you and Vince were part of various conversations throughout the day! I too am already planning for next Christmas! It’s what handmakers do. Don’t we tell ourselves we will start earlier for next year, like in January!!! LOL enjoy the remainder of time there

Amen! And were the fingerless mittens well distributed and appreciated? I’ll bet they were. =)
