Every year I make this fruit cake and I think every year, I say “next year, I’m doubling the recipe”. I was telling Vince that I’m going to double it next year, cut it into small cubes and freeze dry it. What do you think about little crunchy fruit cake bites during the holidays? I think it would be great.
I was too lazy to dig out matching pans so I grabbed the first ones I saw.
Baked and a bit more brandy brushed over the tops.
So delicious! We were in the grocery store the other day and they had samples of fruit cake. I said no, thanks but Vince grabbed one. He kept saying “are you sure you don’t want a sample?” Nope . . I can hardly think of eating a store bought fruit cake after making these for a few years.
Here’s the recipe in case anyone missed it.

I make at least 3 fruitcakes a year. My Granny was Cezch so her recipe is for a dark fruit cake. We love it.

My MIL makes a fruitcake that we all love. in fact, we get pretty possessive about it. Whenever she asks what we want for Christmas, I say, “Fruitcake!” But if I had 6 weeks until Christmas, I would be making yours too. There is room in my life for more than one fruitcake! 🙂

I never met a fruitcake I didn’t like, but I usually buy Claxton when I can get it at Christmas. It was a family tradition.

I’m going to have to have my mom show me how to make hers while she visits next week. I can’t tell her ahead of time or she would go spend her money on the supplies and I don’t want her to do that.
