Last night I made my list of goals for today and I figured there was no way I’d get everything done but unless you go big, you might as well stay home, right?
- Load the freeze dryer and get another load going – 2 trays of corn; 1 tray of dill pickles and 1 tray of bread & butter pickles
- Visit with a friend and share some food I’ve made.
- Make a pot of chili.
- Make 1 recipe of dog food.
- Finish the third pair of fingerless mitts.
Here it is not even noon yet and everything is done except visit with a friend and I’ll do that early this afternoon. As soon as breakfast was done, I got started on my list. I changed my mind about the mitts. I have a sweater that Nicole started and I’m going to finish. I’d love to get it finished, blocked and surprise her with it at Christmas. Pretty lofty goal but you never know.
The chili is simmering. Instead of freeze drying the dog food, I stuck it in containers and put it in the freezer. That will be easier for Vince while I’m gone. That’s done. The freeze dryer is loaded. Two trays of pickles (experiment) and two trays of corn.
There’s even a load of laundry on the line. Actually, there’s two now. I hung out a load of dish towels. You’d think as hot and dry as it is here, I could hang laundry every day but it’s so dusty, I only hang clothes out if the ground is wet enough that the clothes aren’t going to be full of west Texas grit when I bring them in.
I’m going to sit and knit on Nicole’s sweater at least til my knee stops hurting a bit. The hardest part of this project is making sure I pick up at the right spot on the pattern.
Depending on the knee, I may try to make the fruit cakes this afternoon. I still have a lot to get done before I leave town.

slow down! You got this. It will all get done before you leave.

Are you sure Nicole’s not reading your blog? Might ruin the surprise.

You were efficient and fast today! At least you have a clothes line. No one has one here. On the other hand, it’s almost always raining. Or it has been this year!
