Those of you who remember the old days with me, I bought fabric like I had been buying yarn recently. Big Horn Quilts or Fabric (can’t even remember) was one of my favorite places to buy fabric online. I’ve used a ton of the fabric I bought back in the old days but I still have a lot left. I still think there’s a chance I’ll use it some day. I remember at some point thinking . . this is all the fabric you’re going to need and I bought a few pieces here and there but it was at the end of the year in 2013 that I said . . no more fabric and I don’t think I’ve bought a single piece since then.
Now, I feel that way about yarn. I did order a bit on Black Friday but a mere fraction of what I have bought in years past. I haven’t even looked at yarn since then. I know three weeks doesn’t mean a whole lot but I feel different. Every time I go digging in the yarn tubs to find a yarn, I see the wonderful yarns I have here. If I do buy yarn, it will be the Jamieson & Smith yarns that are totally different from what I have here. And, since it’s coming from Europe, I pretty much buy that only when I see a specific pattern I want to make, which usually involves colorwork.
I could make probably 100 quilts and never need batting, backing fabric, top fabric or thread. I now could make lots of sweaters, lots of socks, lots of everything and never need yarn. I feel content.
I’ll keep you posted and I won’t lie . . if I buy yarn, I’ll be accountable to you, once I get it past Vince. 🙂

I have plenty of fabric, so I buy less, but I still buy because there’s something I like and know it will fit in with other stuff. You are prepared for pretty much anything that happens, or doesn’t happen, like a blizzard. 😉

I haven’t completely stopped buying fabric, but I have cut way back. I have plenty that I love and intend to use. Not to mention the scraps …

Judy, I usually buy Jamieson from https://www.schoolhousepress.com/wool/jamieson.html. They are in the US and the shipping is reasonable. Just another option for you.

You are showing great restraint!! I bought some of the simply soft at Vida’s. She had them for $1.50 each and I bought 6, 3 different colors, 2 of each. Same dye lots. She is going to put her yarn on sale but she is going to order more. Pilar is helping her and I think she is going to get better yarn. She told us Wednesday she enjoyed us being there. I need to find a pattern for a baby blanket for my new great nephew that is coming next April. I better get going on it if I want to finish it before he gets here!! LOL
