And about 99.82% of the Brown County residents were in the stores. Everyone was friendly and happy. People were laughing and talking about the potential snow. I think everyone wants snow. Accuweather doesn’t sound nearly as hopeful as does our local emergency management folks.
We are ready! Not that we weren’t ready before and not that we won’t be ready every single day from here to . . well, whenever.
It looks like snow, but it’s almost 60 degrees out there. It looks like chili weather so I bought ground meat to make chili. Today is actually chicken & waffles for dinner and I’m looking forward to that. Tomorrow is shrimp and crab gumbo and since I haven’t gotten that made yet and I like to make it the day before we eat it, I’ll probably have the chili tomorrow and make the gumbo for one day next week. The shrimp are frozen and the crabmeat has a long expiration date . . which makes no sense to me but I’m not going to question it.
We bought milk, bread, wine . . the typical things you need when there’s a .02% chance of snow. Aldi did have these adorable little cast iron pots and pans.
We bought two of each. I would have bought more of the little casseroles if they had them . . they are so cute! I can use the square pan for grilled cheese sandwiches. I already have a cast iron butter melter so I’m not even sure what I’d use that tiny little round pan for. Vince said he might use one for melting was for the mushrooms.
The casseroles each hold one cup.
Me: They’re not very useful. What would we put in there where one cup would be all you want?
Vince: By the time everyone gets their hand out of my pocket, we’ll be doing good to afford one cup of anything!
Poor Vince.
The only thing I really intended to get was ground turkey and chicken hearts to make dog food. Aldi had the turkey for $2.99 and I think I’ve been paying over $5 for it at United but Aldi doesn’t have chicken hearts so we had to go to United anyway. We got a few more things there. Of all the things we bought, there was nothing we HAD to have before the snow but it made Vince feel better to go so . . we went.

Hope you get some snow! Just a little to enjoy with a glass of wine; not enough to cancel your car appt.

At least the crowds were sociable! It sounds like it was almost a party atmosphere.
I have a tiny little skillet. It’s good for cooking one egg (when it’s just me). I have to use one of my silicone spatulas in it (the kind I use for scraping out jars or bowls), because it’s too small for the usual egg spatula!

HA!! That is too funny..I was in Aldi’s yesterday, saw the little tiny cast iron stuff and thought “what the heck would anyone do with those?”. You’ll have to let us know. That’s where I got the Bride’s cake ice cream, too.

Its snowing here in Western Colorado and the people are thinking its a total blizzard gonna hit us. As I went to the library both Wal Marts were full as were the City Market stores, lots of cars in the parking lots. Good thing I didn’t need anything from the grocery store.
But I do like the cast iron items, maybe I will look here or online to see if I can find them and order them.

We always joke about what people do with all the milk, eggs and bread they buy before the giant snow that rarely happens. The theory is they have to make a lot of french toast… I think buying wine sounds a lot more fun! 🙂

Vince makes jokes about people’s hands in his pockets, but who wanted to go to the store? LOL
