As I have become more and more enamored with colorwork/stranded knitting, I realized that so many of the European knitters who do amazing colorwork, were using Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper weight yarn, which is actually fingering weight. It comes in 25 gram balls, which is about 125 yards, which is great for doing colorwork because often, you don’t need more than 100 yards but most American fingering weight yarns come in 400 yard skeins. The skeins are so reasonably priced. With the exchange rate, it’s about $3.60 per skein. Shipping is extremely reasonable, often less than if I ordered from a U.S. yarn shop, and it takes about 10 days to get here.
There are so many colors available in the jumper weight yarn.
Look at the greens and blues. If you need five shades of green for some fancy colorwork, there aren’t many American yarns that are going to give you the variation within a color range but this yarn has such great color choices.
I’m really anxious to get all the Christmas knitting done and do some colorwork with this yarn.

Wow, the greens, blues and even the purple – pink grouping are so great! I will love hearing what you think of it as you use it – after Christmas. =)

Is this yarn machine washable?
