Vince got a double yolk egg this morning for breakfast. I love getting those. Most of the time, I get them when the chickens are just beginning to lay and their system isn’t quite on track yet. These hens have not been laying in so long, their systems may think they’re just starting to lay because I’ve had several double yolks lately.
Double Yolk
I only eat the yolks so I usually keep them for myself. I can almost always tell by the size and shape if it’s going to have a double yolk so instead of two eggs, I only need one but this morning, I was a good wife and let Vince have the double yolk egg.
Little things sometimes make me so happy!

That’s because you know how to take pleasure from little things. Finding a double yolk is a real treasure. I haven’t had one in a long time, but they probably regulate that somehow for store bought eggs.

I remember being excited when we would find an egg with a double yolk when I was a child. My mother would always be sure to show it to me. (Didn’t take much to entertain us!) Of course you never see those in commercial eggs now. 🙁
