In the photos, you really can’t see the shapes but they are so cute. There are stars, hearts, owls, fish, shells and one more thing I can’t remember.
I was asking Vince about the texture and how I would describe it.
Me: Vince, how would you describe the texture of these?
Vince: Most people wouldn’t eat something like that.
Me: They’re bad?
Vince: No . . there just isn’t much to compare it to.
The best I can come up with is something between a malted milk ball and cotton candy. Of course, it doesn’t taste like a malted milk ball .. just kind that airy texture.
There are 23 half pint jars and 3 gift type bags. The bags, I sealed with a heat strip, which tears away to open and then there’s a zipper bag to re-seal it.
Here’s what I ended up with:
- 8 jars of strawberry milk. It’s the Promised Land strawberry milk which I love!
- 8 jars of chocolate milk. I mixed chocolate syrup in milk to make these.
- 4 strawberry yogurt drops made from homemade yogurt.
- 3 eggnog.
Of course, we both liked the eggnog best but by the time I got to the eggnog, I knew I had enough to fill the freeze dryer. I’ll start freezing more of those tomorrow but tomorrow, I have to get dog food in the freeze dryer and that will probably take til Wednesday night or Thursday morning, depending on what time of day I get it going.
Hopefully by then I’ll have enough frozen eggnog to fill the freeze dryer but I do still have two trays of frozen corn in the home freezer so if I only get 2 trays worth of eggnog bites done, I can fill the remaining two trays with corn. I don’t ever want to run a half full load.

You TRULY got your money’s worth with that freeze dryer! It sounds like it’s in use 24/7/365!!

You make me think seriously about getting a freeze dryer. What kind of bags are you using? They look very useful.
