If you have halfway decent sewing skills, and you have girls in your life, you need to check out this pattern: McCalls M7427. The pattern includes sizes 7 – 14.
Hobby Lobby had one made up and there is just almost no sewing to it at all. They used a fabric similar to this:
Their fabric was a bit different but they were all out of the one they used. It was basically the same but the suede looked like it had been stamped with imprints and had something glittery all over it. Addie would have loved it! They were out and they said Abilene was out also. The fabric I bought is called a sherpa suede and they call the underside a “faux fur”.
The vest they had on display – side seams, shoulder seams and a seam in the back of the shawl collar. No edges were finished. I can make this in a heartbeat!
The only problem is that it has to be dry cleaned, which probably isn’t great for a 6 year old but she can wear it til it gets dirty and then we can make another one! I used my 40% off coupon and got the fabric for less than $10.

Get the dryer dry cleaning sheets! That will extend it’s life. You can use a scrub brush to get off surface dirt and fluff up the nap, then use it in the dryer with the dry cleaning sheet, and it will be good to go again. =)
