All the pom poms are made . . all two of them! Maybe the reason I dislike making the is because my total failure at making a pom pom the first time I tried it. I read the instructions, watched a video and thought I had it down. I wrapped and wrapped and not sure exactly what I did wrong . . obviously cut in too many places, because when I opened the maker up, I had a million little 1-1/2″ strands of yarn . . nothing resembling a pom pom. Now, every time I make a pom pom, I hold my breath til I see a pom pom and not shreds of yarn.
My plan was to put a red pom pom on this one but then I thought . . red is so predictable. I used the lime green and I’m so glad I did. It just glows!
I know I’ve told you all this before but Nicole does not like purple. When I first met her, I couldn’t believe anyone didn’t like purple. She told me that she can’t even stand to see purple grapes . . doesn’t like the taste at all and she thinks that’s why she doesn’t like purple. I’ve always said purple is my favorite color. Heck, we even built a purple house once! But, looking at my work, and color choices for quilts and knitted items, it’s probably obvious that green is my favorite color, though I don’t ever say it is.
Since Addie was able to recognize colors, when she sees purple, she says “Purple! Mommy’s favorite color!” She never just says “purple”. I wonder what she says at school. Nicole said he’s heard that so long, that she’s starting to like purple.
When I was there last . .
Addie: Granny, what’s your favorite color?
Me: Purple!
Addie: No, it isn’t . . it’s green!
Me: How do you know?
Addie: I just know. You make everything green.”
I suppose my favorite color is mostly whatever color I’m working on at the moment. I don’t think Addie will be surprised or sad that her pom pom is green.

A sophisticated color choice for hat and pom pom, not at all predictable; love it.

Once I tried to make a circular tablecloth using a pattern I had cut from newspaper. The pattern was for 1/4 of the circle, and after I folded the fabric and cut it I had two half circles. I had done several tablecloths in this manner previously, never had a problem. I call this my “chemo brain” project.

It cracks me up every time you tell that “Mommy’s favorite color!” story! Nicole “starting to like it” is the crowning touch!

Your pom-poms look great. I think the green one looks great, but I really like the one on the reindeer hat and Rudolph’s red nose. Addie will look great in these.

Great choice for this hat. How do pom poms do in the wash?

I like this! The lime green makes the other green pop!
