This morning I began cooking early. There was a chicken to boil.
There was roux to be made.
There were veggies to chop – onions, green pepper, jalapeno pepper, garlic.
A trip to the greenhouse and garden for bay leaves, parsley and green onions.
The gumbo is for tomorrow. Today we’re having beans, sausage and rice, cornbread and coleslaw. Last night I soaked the beans so they’re cooking in the pressure cooker.
I thought I was going to have time to get everything done and leave it all cooking while I went to knitting. Vince is home to keep an eye on it but .. everything takes longer than I planned so I missed knitting today but . . this kitchen surely does smell wonderful!

I’m glad you got everything done. Only Pilar and I showed up. Good think I went and got her, she was having a bad morning! We had fun. It was only the two of us and we sat at the little table next to the wall where we usually sit. Then I went to Tractor Supply to get dog food and saw Benedicta and her two pups! She said she is going to try to come next week.

Smells good from here, too! I’m sorry you missed your knitting group, but I bet Vince was happy with the results of the day. =)
