Yesterday was the first day of deer and turkey hunting. I was sitting in my chair knitting yesterday afternoon and I glanced up and saw at least 20 turkeys. Some were outside our fence. Some had flown over our fence and were hanging out in the orchard.
This morning Vince looked out and there were two does and a buck on the side of the house.
The pictures aren’t great. I was taking them through the back windows and trying not to make any noise.
I never could get a picture of the buck. You can see that they’re suspicious and aren’t relaxed. They can hear us een inside the house I suppose.
It’s interesting that we’ve hardly seen any deer or turkey in the past six months and here we are the day after hunting season opens, and they’re out there. There’s probably no one in the area hunting so I doubt they know they’re in danger.

There is an abundance of acorns this year! The deer at Riverside Park are out! Lots of them. We were driving around in the country today and we saw about an 8 point buck but didn’t have time to stop before he ran off! He was a pretty thing!

the deer in my area are not that nervous of us I can go out side clap my hands and stomp my feet they just look up at me and continue to nibble on my plants.

Deer season starts on Saturday here. Hubby has his permit….a buck & a doe or two does, his rifle is ready, knife sharpened & he & his brother have gotten permission to hunt on several places. I hope he gets at least one. I like venison. It will probably depend on weather for ifhe gets a muzzle loader permit as well. Or what kind of luck he had during rifle season. I’ll have a few days to myself to sew, quilt or maybe work on some genealogy. Sweet!!
