Today I seem hung up on color work . . specifically Norwegian style color work knitting. I’m not sure why because stranded color work, for the most part, makes me crazy. But, it seems that all I’ve been able to think about today is color work.
The Fern & Feather pattern has been in my library for quite a while. It was added to my queue in January of this year. In fact, I think I brought this project with me to Missouri. Even being here for three weeks, I’m not going to get 10% done of what I had planned to do.
This morning while knitting and watching podcasts, two of them in a row (different knitters) mentioned Vinterfjell. The designer of the pattern was the next podcast I had queued so I knew I was going to fall for that one . . and I did. Ordered the pattern, ordered yarn.
The same lady has quite a few gorgeous color work mitten patterns so I decided on Spunni. Still not enough . .
The same designer was wearing a Skogafjall that was designed by someone else. At first, I said no because it’s too much like Fern & Feather but it kinda looks easier and kinda looks more comfy to wear so . . I kinda bought the pattern and ordered yarn.
Have I been knitting at all today? Not much – just enough that I screwed up a whole row (320 stitches) on about the 4th stitch in, had to go back and tink all that out, got started again and the darned cable unscrewed from the needle and about 50 stitches had fallen off before I noticed. Pick those up, fix a few dropped stitches . . back to knitting. Actually, I seem to have much better luck shopping than actually knitting.

I like Skogafjall better than the Fern & Feather. The neckline looks more comfortable and I like the color graduation better.

i love looking at stranded fair isle type projects. I’ve only knit a simple hat, but someday. The fall 2018 issue of Vogue knitting has many amazing color work patterns. And Knitting Magazine too. I don’t buy magazines often but when I do, I buy several. Wonder if you can get the pdfs of the patterns when you buy the magazine. I’ll have to research.

I fell in love with these projects. The only problem is….I don’t knit.

I hate it when I mess up and have to go back to the other end just to make up for the stitches I messed up! Glad I am not the only one that does this! Also glad you were able to go back and correct it.

Oh, opinions are worth what you pay for, but I really like the Fern and Feather. It seems so crisp and clean. And you already have what you need for it. =)

I like Fern & Feather. The rest look like they would take too much concentration. How are you doing on prepping for ITAG and Carol Feller’s KAL? LOL
